Originally designed as a charter yacht, PHAEDRUS (Fay-drus) is very roomy, with a spacious salon, a very comfortable cockpit, flush deck and seven hatches allowing for excellent ventilation. Guests aboard PHAEDRUS will rest in a queen berth with a private head and plenty of storage. Meals served aboard are prepared from a varied menu to your particular taste by your personal chef, Charles.

Enjoy the Caribbean's premier snorkeling sights, take walking tours of the historical and natural wonders of the Islands, shop the unique boutiques or just explore PHAEDRUS' library of over 250 books. Scuba diving is available to certified divers by arrangement.

Leslie Howe and Charles Swain , owner-operators 

Charles' early interest in cooking and an opportunity to apprentice to an excellent continental chef set into motion a lifelong love of cooking and cuisine. A gypsy at heart, Charles was educated in Texas and received a degree in Comparative Philosophy.  Charles has worked as chef for hotels operated by Fairmont, Dunphy and Sky Chef International and owned a successful catering business. He taught Culinary Arts at the University level and for a variety of gourmet societies as well as served on the board of directors of the American Culinary Federation.  After taking early retirement from the University of Oklahoma, Charles has pursued his dream to live and sail in the Caribbean.

"Lila" A Very Small Cat -is the other permanent member of the crew. Lila has been the star of all charters.

The operation and management of Phaedrus, as well as sharing some of the 'culinary arts', is by Leslie. An Oklahoma 'gal', Leslie received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. Before heading for the Caribbean with Charles, she worked for an international lettering arts magazine. There she enjoyed the close personal interaction with artists and literary contributors from around the world. She loves animals, nature and the sea and would be delighted to share what she has learned about life in the Caribbean.

Charles and Leslie spent several years exploring the Islands from Florida to South America and has logged nearly 10,000 miles in the Caribbean.  They have been successfully hosting couples in the Virgin Islands these last several years to great raves and reviews.
