Lone Fox 's Crew
Captain Ira Epstein Growing up on Lake Michigan, Captain Ira Epstein developed a love for the water and sailing at a very young age. After graduating from the University of Colorado, he spent the remainder of his twenties sailing, chartering, delivering and caring for classic wooden sail boats. Over this time period he worked in the Windward and Leeward Islands, eventually went through the through the Panama Canal and then sailed onward to San Francisco. After years in the Sausalito water front community, he “set sail” for the San Francisco financial district and became a well known trader on the Pacific Stock Exchange options floor for over 20 years. After a few years in the hedge fund industry, Ira felt the winds of change calling and has now gone full circle by returning to the Caribbean aboard S/V Lone Fox. Ira’s ocean travels have taken him around Cape Horn as well as The Straights of Magellan on a number of famous classic yachts. It is not hard to coax one or more colorful stories from this interesting, well traveled, amenable man. His goal is to share a passion and respect for the ocean, fine sailing yachts, and life itself with each and every guest he welcomes aboard!
Mate Guillame hasworked with Ira for years as a true "right-hand" crew member. He is able to assist with anyhting on board and has great respect for Ira as his mentor throughout the years going back to the Sausalito days. Ira is a terrific cook, so depending upon needs and sleeping requirements, he will either take over galley duties as well, or provide a chef-hostess as needed.
